Cooler temperatures have finally arrived and the fishing is definitely heating up on Riss Lake. August has been a great month for both fishing and for fun lake activities. Our sixth annual Kid’s/Parents Fishing Day on August 6th was a BIG HIT!
The weather cooperated perfectly that morning with overcast skies and mild temperatures and the fishing was spectacular! Around fifteen families turned out with their little ones who were definitely having a great time hauling in Bass, Bluegill and Catfish. There were more fish caught and released this year than before and the experience for many parents was just as rewarding.
For club members that help out with this event, it is our mission to show you how much fun you can have fishing and just hanging out at the marina for the afternoon! We had a GREAT time and hope that you will participate again next year.
Following the fishing the sun popped out just in time for our annual Kids Vs. Parents water fight! Volunteers had filled more than 800 water balloons and armed with Super Soakers, the parents did their best to defend against the deftly streams of water coming from the shore! This was a blast!
The August 27th Shoreline Cleanup Day was also a huge success. The cleanup was relatively easy this year with a great turnout from volunteers. We were done in less than two hours and collected around twenty bags of trash from the shore.
Thank you to all of the clean up volunteers especially: Nick and Jeff Black, Dwight Orr, Linda Gocken, Mike McGuire, Don MacCallum, Glen Yager, Brent Frazee, Chris Clausen, George Zigelhofer, Drew and Cole Mazeitis, Aunie Perrea and Larry Chambers.
Please join us on September 17th for the final Bass Tournament of the year and mark your calendar for the Year End BBQ Dinner at the PAC on October 11, 2011.
